Subtle greens in shades of Sea Glass with CoverGirl

Today I want to quickly show you the CoverGirl Eye Enhancers 3 Kit Eye Shadow in Sea Glass.

This trio provides a nice wash of color but definitely don't expect super-pigmented colors like Urban Decay provides.

This creates a nice, subtle look that looks nice on hazel eyes.  Unfortunately, these are a bit dry and hard.  They certainly aren't buttery.

Of course, this is a good deal at $4.69; however, I do prefer my shadows a bit more pigmented.

You can purchase HERE.

XOXO

It's not a secret that I adore On Her Majesty's Secret Service!

Today I wanted to show you the incredible polish named On Her Majesty's Secret Service by OPI.  Yes, this is from the new Skyfall collection and it's incredible!

(Am I the only one who is glad they just used the movie names as the polish names and didn't try to come up with anything punny or cheesy?)

This polish is difficult for me to describe.  It's a deep metallic grey with blue and grey micro-shimmer.  It seems to have a slight iridescence from some angles.

I used two coats and I've been amazed at how well this has held up.  I have to paint my nails every other day because they chip so easily but with this polish, I'm at the end of day four and only have minor tip-wear.

Sooooo beautiful!  My mom borrowed this bottle and say that she used one coat on her toenails and really liked the effect.

I wore this with a blue and grey peplum dress the other day and it was just perfect together.

Seriously, I love this polish.  OPI really knocked this Skyfall collection out of the park.  When OPI goes on sale at Ulta I'm going to scoop up some more.

Other Skyfall posts:

No Plain Jane doesn't live up to her name

Sometimes I like to go bargain-bin diving.  I mean...who doesn't, right?  Well, I found this polish in the clearance bin at Sally's when I was out of town.  (Yes, I go beauty shopping when I'm out of town!  Lol.)

This is China Glaze No Plain Jane.  Now, I knew from reading Scrangie that No Plain Jane was a duochrome from the New Bohemian Luster Chrome collection for Fall 2012.

However, her polish had a silver cap and mine has a black cap.  It makes me wonder if I got something different?  (What is my deal with weird purples this week?)  Whatever the case may be, my polish doesn't really look as glorious as her bottle.

This is a purple metallic kind of color which seems to have some dull duochrome.  My bottle seems to shift from taupe to sage green and sometimes gold.

As you can see on my nails, the polish looks different from different angles.

Meh.  This almost looked taupe-ish brown at some angles which isn't really my nail style.  The purple is ok but not something I'm just adoring.

I'm glad I got this on sale for $3.29.  This might just go in the giveaway pile.

Am I in a Purple Haze over this Urban Decay shadow's color?

Sephora finally put the discontinued Urban Decay shadows on sale (woot!) so you know I had to snap up a shade I had been eyeing for a while.

That would be Purple Haze!  Sephora describes it as "matte bright purple" but I'm a little confused about the pan I got...

Check out Temptalia's review of Purple Haze HERE.  Her swatches actually show a bright, matte grape kind of color.

Unfortunately, mine doesn't look anything like her swatches.  The label on the back of mine also seems to be a different color than her label.  Of course, this color is nice, but it isn't anything like what I was really hoping for from Purple Haze.

I actually really think my pan looks like Cult, which is described as "matte muted purple."  Look at Sephora's picture to see what I mean:
Cult
Photo taken from Sephora's website
See how much more my swatch looks like Cult?

It's ok, though - I do like this color.  Plus, it's the great quality we've come to expect from Urban Decay.  Unfortunately, I just don't feel like it's the right color.

Looks like Sephora is all sold out of their sale eyeshadows but you might be able to grab some in stores.  They're only $6 right now!

Michael Kors just doesn't hit the right notes with his self-named perfume

Today I want to tell you about an eau de parfum sample that I got recently with a Sephora order.  This is Michael Kors by Michael Kors and well....

I really don't like it.  There's something....old about it?  Not old but just mature.  Much more mature than what I'd wear.

More mature than what I'd expect my mother to wear.  Facts are facts - this is what I think of as a "grandma" perfume.

I sure wish I liked it more because this sample was generous.  Unfortunately, I just don't see myself wearing it.  The smell is a bit cloying.  Here's how Sephora describes it:

"Michael Kors is tuberose reinvented. Creamy florals explode into exotic spices, tamed by Moroccan incense. A fragrant creation with a wealth of personality that will capture the heart of every woman."

Notes:
Dewy Freesia, Tamarind, Chinese Osmanthus, Incense, Fresh Tuberose, White Wings Peony, Blue Orris, Arum Lilies, Cashmere Woods, Musk, Vetiver Haiti.
Style:
Sophisticated and sensual, warm and wearable.

I'm not sure what about it bothers me, but I guess the Freesia or the Tuberose.  Anyway, this is in my giveaway drawer.  Plus, I wish this had a spray top, not an open top.

I would pass on this one!  You can buy 1 fl oz for $50 HERE.

Get your Shine on with the Queen, the Mystic, and the Muse!

One of my favorite high school memories is going over to my BFF Travis's house each week senior year to watch Project Runway and work on our vocabulary words!  So I do have a sweet spot in my heart for Project Runway, even though I don't watch it religiously now.

So when Project Runway teamed up with L'Oreal to create a range of products, I knew I wanted some.

They took a creative route and created four "mini-collections" in one big collection.  The products are divided up into The Artsy Muse, The Enchanted Queen, The Seductive Temptress, and The Wise Mystic.

I grabbed up L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss in The Queen's Shine, The Mystic's Shine, and The Muse's Shine (Sorry Temptress!  Lol).
L-R The Queen's Shine, The Mystic's Shine, The Muse's Shine
The Mystic's Shine and The Muse's Shine are really more for layering, as you can see in the pictures below.  (I used The Muse's Shine in this FOTD.)

The Queen's Shine
The first shade looks like a deep burgundy in the tube but unfortunately, it translates to a more vivid, bright pink on lips.  I was really hoping for a darker color so this was a bit disappointing.

The Mystic's Shine
The next shade is a sheer, shimmery, lilac color.  This would look great over berry hues!  It makes my lips look a bit lifeless on its own.

The Muse's Shine
This is a shimmery gold color which will look great over reds and maybe hot pinks.  This is also a layering shade.

Overall, these shades are nice for layering; however, they aren't great on their own.  I wish The Queen's Shine was more true-to-tube.

Do you need these?  Well, The Muse's Shine is great for layering over reds but I might skip the other two.

I found mine in Target for $5.99 each.  They're limited edition, so snatch 'em quick!

Get gold and red holiday lips in three easy steps!

Red lips are big for the holidays but what's even bigger?  Red and gold lips!  Yes, gold sparkles on red lips are super awesome.

So today I wanted to show you a quick FOTD using three products:

L'Oreal Infallible Le Gloss in The Muse's Shine

Ok, let's get started!  Start with bare, clean lips.

Next, line your lips with the lipliner.

Next, use the mattene to fill in your lips.

Finally, add that super awesome gloss on top.

Voila!  Now you have a super awesome lip look to wear to all your holiday parties.

The great thing is you can pair sparkly red lips with almost any eye look:  black smokey, black cat-eye, shimmery gold, or nude matte.  I used a beautiful gold on the lid and a darkened gold in the crease (Urban Decay Half Baked and Urban Decay Smog).

Of course, this is a really subdued eye look but I would amp is up for night-time gatherings.

Sparkly nails don't last long with Lorelei's Tiara

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans!  I hope you're having as great of a day as I am.  Good times with good friends and family....oh, and good food!

Anyway, here's a sparkly, silver glitter mani to get you excited:

This is China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara.  This contains silver micro-glitter and small, light ocean blue glitter.  This is supposed to give it a 3D kind of look.

This bottle is problematic because it is thick and goopy.  A nice, thin coat is impossible.

I was able to thin out the formula some with thinner but it took A TON.  Seriously, I must have used about 30 drops.  (I feel like a normal polish takes about 3 drops while a glitter might take 10.)  Although this thinned the polish, the polish on the brush stayed thick and gloopy.

This makes a beautiful manicure with a lot of visual impact; however, it chips super easily due to the goopy nature.  I've also had this polish lift off in one clean sheet only hours after applying!  No good.

There are better formulas than this out there.  OPI Crown Me Already comes to mind, but I know there are others if you look.  I'd probably skip this one.

You can buy HERE for $5.

My first indie polish is a real delight!

I'm happy to report that I finally own my first indie polish!  That's right!  I've branched out into the indie polish scene with two bottles from Feenix Polish.  The first one I want to show you is Candy Corn.

The polish is beautiful!  It contains orange, yellow, and white hexagonal glitter suspended in a clear base.

This is a remarkably gorgeous polish that I adore.  It looks wonderful over black polish but I'm definitely going to try it over orange, too.

Like any glitter, this requires some patience to get the glitter in place.  I think this does best with two coats, but use whatever coverage you like.
One coat over OPI Black Onyx
Two coats over OPI Black Onyx
I used two coats of OPI Black Onyx for these swatches.

Feenix Polish had amazing customer service!  I received my package in two days (!!!) and the bottles were wrapped up nicely in bubble wrap.  I was really pleased with the service I received.  You can find Feenix Polish HERE and her Etsy store HERE.

I bought my bottle during a BOGO sale  - woohoo!  These bottles are $8 / each and $2 for shipping.
