Sticks 'n Stones never hurt a manicure!

Happy New Year, everyone!  I hope your 2013 is filled with many happy moments and things that make you smile!

Today I want to show you another polish from Ninja Polish!  This is Cover Band Sticks 'n Stones.

I've been wanting this polish foreverrrr and finally snapped it up as soon as it was restocked.  This is a mix of black and white glitters, which are immensely popular in the indie nail world.

There are various size circles, squares, bars, and hexagons!

I layered this over OPI Kiss Me on My Tulips for my NYE mani!

This is two coats and I think it built up rather nicely.  The bar glitter really makes it but I love the black squares, too!  

The nice thing about this glitter is that it isn't gritty on top.  I used just one coat of top coat and even though it isn't perfect, it's not a gritty mess.

Now, it might have been because I was applying everything in such a hurry, but I found that this shrunk my polish.  The tips especially drew back almost at once.  Next time I will go slower to try to avoid this problem.

Match your tips to your jewelry with Floam!

FLOAM!  Oh my gosh, I can't even express to you how long I lusted after this polish. 

This is an I'm Feeling Nail-venturous polish that is now being made by Ninja Polish.  I've shown you Floam before HERE but here's a refresher:

Anyway...this is the Floam polish that started all the other incredible Floam spin-offs.

According to Ninja Polish's website Floam contains "matte neon blue and yellow-green fine glitter in a clear base."

Unfortunately, I think my yellow-green glitter bled a wee bit because my base seems a tinge yellow.  It gives the whole thing a greenish cast and I do wish it were a bit more blue.  Whatever - I still adore it!

This is three coats of Floam.  It dries incredibly quickly, unlike some glitters, so you can actually get the three coats on in a reasonable time.  Next time I'm going to try layering this over a deep blue or black to really make it pop!

And since I was wearing Floam on my fingernails I had to wear my BeadsInk Floam ring!  A nice lady name Steph has run this Etsy shop for over a year and she makes jewelry using nail polish!  How cool is that?  She custom-made this Floam ring and I adore it.  Seriously...you'll catch yourself staring at these pretties when you wear them.  I love that BeadsInk has polishes from lots of indie polish sellers and that Steph happily accepts custom orders.

It's a Trap-eze is swinging into my heart!

As we wind down 2012, I've been thinking about compiling a list of some of my favorite products from this year.  Well, China Glaze It's a Trap-eze! is a close contender in the glitter nail polish section!

Ahh!  So amazing!  This is from the new China Glaze Cirque Du Soleil collection that's coming out in conjunction with the movie.  

This polish is a white jelly jam-packed with multi-size, multi-color glitter.  Seriously, I see white, green, orange, blue, pink, and yellow.

Now, most glitters tend to take a gazillion coats to actually get opaque coverage but not It's a Trap-eze!

One coat did a nice job but I went ahead and did two coats to get that "jelly sandwich" nail look.

My camera was having trouble photographing this because it was so sparkly!  Definitely click on the pictures to see them bigger.

I just adore this polish so much.  The rest of the collection was a little ehhhh for me but this is the standout!  You need it!

Have a sparkly, Floamy Hanukkah!

Listen, I can't tell you how long I've wanted to buy something from Ninja Polish.  I finally took the plunge on Black Friday!  Woo hoo!

This gorgeous polish is Hanukkah Floam.

Please tell me you remember Floam!

I don't think I ever owned any Floam but I've been positively dying over wanting Nail-venturous Floam.  It finally came back into stock and I snapped it up.  This, however, is Hanukkah Floam!

This has blue matte and silver holographic glitter.  Love it!  So absolutely beautiful.

I used two coats in my swatches but you could make it more opaque with three coats.

This eats up top coat like crazy so you'll probably need two coats of top coat.  My nails aren't glossy even with the two coats of top coat.

This color is just wonderful and I appreciate that Ninja Polish did a Hanukkah Floam.  Seems like so many Holiday collections only focus on Christmas.

This year I bought myself a mini, tiny menorah.  It's so cute and comes with all the necessary candles. (Trivia:  how many candles do you need to make it through all the nights of Hanukkah?  Maybe I'll send a prize to the person who comments correctly...)

Sparkly nails don't last long with Lorelei's Tiara

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans!  I hope you're having as great of a day as I am.  Good times with good friends and family....oh, and good food!

Anyway, here's a sparkly, silver glitter mani to get you excited:

This is China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara.  This contains silver micro-glitter and small, light ocean blue glitter.  This is supposed to give it a 3D kind of look.

This bottle is problematic because it is thick and goopy.  A nice, thin coat is impossible.

I was able to thin out the formula some with thinner but it took A TON.  Seriously, I must have used about 30 drops.  (I feel like a normal polish takes about 3 drops while a glitter might take 10.)  Although this thinned the polish, the polish on the brush stayed thick and gloopy.

This makes a beautiful manicure with a lot of visual impact; however, it chips super easily due to the goopy nature.  I've also had this polish lift off in one clean sheet only hours after applying!  No good.

There are better formulas than this out there.  OPI Crown Me Already comes to mind, but I know there are others if you look.  I'd probably skip this one.

I have my eye on OPI GoldenEye!

Today I have another OPI Skyfall collection polish to show you!  This one is named GoldenEye and it's...well...GOLD!

This polish is just too good.  This is absolute perfection.

This is a beautiful gold foil that everyone needs to own.  It's really a very, very fine glitter.  I used three coats but you could get away with two.

The finish is just so incredible - the best foil I've ever used.  I wish I had this formula with a copper color and silver color.  The metallic looks like gold flake on my nails.

I really adore how reflective and shiny this is.  I think I'll wear this when I go see the Bond movie!

Madonna meets James Bond in today's NOTD!

Today I have two wonderful polishes to show you!  The first is Nicole by OPI Paparazzi Don't Preach. Don't act like you don't love that song...

Seriously...just press play and listen while you read this!  LOL!

*Ahem*  Anyway, this polish is part of the Kim Kardashian collection (Kollection?).  This color is only carried in CVS stores.

This color is a perfect neutral that's perfect for event he most conservative workplaces.

The formula definitely requires two coats.  The first is way too thin; however, this can get goopy and thick quickly.  Just keep your second coat fairly thin and you should be okay.

You can see some patchy spots on my nails.  You can fix this with a third coat but, like I said, it gets thick quickly.

This formula isn't perfect but it is very nice for a quick, work-appropriate nail!

Now this gorgeous glitter is The Living Daylights by OPI!  This is from the new Skyfall collection as part of the new Bond movie promotion.  I am a huge Bond fan thanks to my dad who is also a big 007 fan!

CANNOT WAIT!

I have been positively freaking out over this collection and I want EVERY SINGLE COLOR.  I restrained myself and picked only four but I'm hoping some of the others will end up in my Christmas stocking this year!

This contains silver, gold, copper, and aqua hexagonal glitter in a clear base.  AMAZING!  I haven't seen a glitter like this before.  I love when a company does something unique.

This is two coats of OPI The Living Daylights over NOPI Paparazzi Don't Preach.  I absolutely love this glitter and it's everything I drooled over leading up to this Skyfall release!

Next time I'm planning on trying this over a coppery polish or a turquoise polish.  I think it would look ravishing over Milani Key West.

The most unique polish in my stash + a cheap dotting tool!

I have a pretty decent nail stash compared to the average woman.  (Compared to true polishaholics, I don't have anything.)  Anyway, I have a lot of nice shades but I think most of them are "Yep.  That looks like red," or "Yep, a purple glitter."

This, however, is my most unique polish (for the moment) and is something I just recently stumbled upon.  I have no idea how I hadn't heard of it until now!

This is Orly Ingenue and it's simply fantastic.  This is a pinkish-purplish metallic color with TONS of gold glitter!  The glitter is teeny-tiny and doesn't scream "glitter" like some super chunky glitters tend to do.

At some angles, the color is purple.  At other angles it is pink.  And at other angles the gold flares up to create a beautiful, shiny surface.  

This is one of those weird shades that is a GLITTER but is still super work-place appropriate.  I only used two coats in these pictures.  This is a nice, thin consistency which happens to be my favorite type to work with.  I know some people prefer a little thicker but this is perfect for me.

My only complaint is the Orly brush in general.  I hate how long it is because it tends to pick up waaaayyy more polish than you need for each nail.  Tread carefully!

Of course, I couldn't be satisfied with just this gorgeous color - I had to add in another favorite that I've mentioned before...

That's right!  I added dots in Milani Key West.  This really wasn't difficult at all.  I'd say it took about ten minutes to do both hands and that was because I was going nice and slowly.  And what did I use to dot?

That's right!  I'm a frugalista so I just stuck a pin in the end of a pencil eraser!  This makes a cheap and easy dotting tool!  Just put a blob of polish on a piece of paper/cardboard/wax paper/etc and then dot the end of the pin into it.  Easy!
