Candy Apple lips with Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter!

I have a strange love-hate relationship with drugstore lipsticks.  Sometimes they're just so drying and sometimes you stumble upon a really fantastic one.  Well, add this Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter to the love list!

The amazingly talented Muse from Musings of a Muse sent this to me when I won the Forsaken Shimmering Body Veil in her giveaway.  I'm glad she did because I'm not sure this is something I would've picked up for myself.

This lip butter provides very light coverage but I wouldn't say it's sheer.  The color is really beautiful - don't let the red bullet intimidate you.

This comes across as a really nice orangey-red flush on lips.  It's shiny and balm-like.  Seriously, my lips feels really hydrated when I wear this and the wear-time is really great - about 5 hours.

I'm so glad the Muse sent this to me because I totally would have passed this one over but it's now one of my favorites!

I detect a slight fruit-punch scent but no taste.  The scent fades fairly quickly.

I'm going to say that you need this!  Seriously, it's awesome!  If this color isn't your thing, at least check out the other shades in this formula.

You can purchase HERE for $7.49.

XOXO

Get gold and red holiday lips in three easy steps!

Red lips are big for the holidays but what's even bigger?  Red and gold lips!  Yes, gold sparkles on red lips are super awesome.

So today I wanted to show you a quick FOTD using three products:

L'Oreal Infallible Le Gloss in The Muse's Shine

Ok, let's get started!  Start with bare, clean lips.

Next, line your lips with the lipliner.

Next, use the mattene to fill in your lips.

Finally, add that super awesome gloss on top.

Voila!  Now you have a super awesome lip look to wear to all your holiday parties.

The great thing is you can pair sparkly red lips with almost any eye look:  black smokey, black cat-eye, shimmery gold, or nude matte.  I used a beautiful gold on the lid and a darkened gold in the crease (Urban Decay Half Baked and Urban Decay Smog).

Of course, this is a really subdued eye look but I would amp is up for night-time gatherings.

This Perfect Red is gloriously classic!

Today I'm showing you an amazing product that Izzy from Musings of a Muse sent me as an extra when I won a giveaway.

This is the Too Faced Perfect Lips lipliner in Perfect Red.  ($17)

I love the cute detailing!  Too Faced is always adorable.

"Perfect Red" is right!

I love that this is retractable and has a grip!

This is great for lining lips or you can fill in your whole lip.  You can rock it this way or you can layer lipstick on top.

The small tip makes lining a breeze but it does make it so that filling in your whole lips takes forever.

But the real magic happens when you add some gloss on top!

I love this!  I'm going to be using this a LOT.  I used it to line my lips in this post.

You can grab this from Sephora HERE.  There are three additional shades.

Semi-matte red lips look classic with MAC Eden Rouge

So, after I fell head over heels in love with MAC Fashion Nomad I convinced myself that I needed Eden Rouge.  (It's limited edition!)

This is part of the MAC StyleSeeker collection, which you can still find on MAC's website.  Unfortunately, it seems like most of the colors are sold out so you might want to check your local MAC counter.

Please forgive me for being a bad beauty blogger and forgetting to save my box!  I just tore into it and now I can't find the box anymore.  But I promise it looks just like the Fashion Nomad box! ;-)

MAC describes Eden Rouge as "bright, blue-red" which I think is a very fitting description.  This is a nice, true red.

I lined my lips with Too Faced Perfect Lips Lipliner in Perfect Red which I plan to review ASAP!

Gorgeous!  I love the beautiful, semi-matte finish.  I think it makes my lips look pouty and full.  Plus, red is SO classic.  I think a lot of reds end up looking cheap but this one is really great and looks elegant.

I find that it has the same great wear that Fashion Nomad provides but does tend to slip around a wee bit more.  Lining lips is really essential for this one.

You need it!  Now if I can just find Camden Chic my life will be complete!  Lol!

Metallic red lips with Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick

Remember when I raved my tube of Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick?  Well today I'm bring you the new Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick!

I have Adora which Sephora simply describes as "bright red."  There are so many good things to say about this new product!

I love the cute packaging!

First, the color is BAM!  Super pigmented and very vibrant!  The staying power is great (although not quite as wonderful as the Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick).  This one also has a doe-foot applicator and only requires a tiny bit of product to get full coverage.

The color is opaque in just one stroke!

Plus, the finish is different:  Everlasting Love Liquid Lipsticks are matte whereas these are "metallic."

Sure, there's some metallic to it, but these are still semi-matte, in my humble opinion.

All in all, I prefer the Everlasting Love just because I think the matte is gorgeous.  If matte isn't your thing, you may really adore these!

You can pick this up for $19 in Sephora stores or online HERE.

Lining lips: yay or nay?

Lip liner - love it or hate it?  I feel like older generations tend to like lip liner more than us younger folk.  I think the problem is that matching lip liner to lipstick can be difficult.  If you're not careful, you end up looking like a chola.  *Just sayin'*

This lady gets it, riiiiight?
NSFW (naughty words)

The point I'm making is that I don't usually rock lip liner.  I even read in some fashion magazine (don't ask me which one) that you should never wear lip liner "no matter what the lady at the makeup counter says."  HA!

However, I think you can still find some great colors in lip liner and rock them all over your lips!  So, I present to you Wet n Wild Color Icon Liner Pencil in Berry Red 717.

I've said before that I don't usually rock a red lip.  I think it clashes with my orange-red hair.  However, I couldn't resist this little cutie for 99 cents!

I actually picked it up to create a Canadian flag on my lips for an Olympics opening ceremony party; however, that proved waaaay too difficult!

The color is intense and lovely but the formula is a bit drying.  I wouldn't saying that the staying power is very great...maybe about two hours.  This isn't my top pick, but if you rock red lips a lot you might find that it helps keep your lipstick in line!

You can buy it HERE or in almost any drugstore for 99 cents.

Do you rock red lips?  Love liner?  Proudly rock a chola look?!

XOXO

Wet n Wild gives a great red for 99 cents!

What can you get for 99 cents these days?  Not much!  However, you can score a cheap, red thrill with Wet n' Wild's Silk Finish Lipstick in 514 Cherry Frost.

A lot of a beauty maven's quest is spent trying to find the perfect red lipstick.  I can't say that this one is absolutely perfect, but it's a magnificent find for 99 cents!

I think bargain beauty finds aren't worth ANY money if they don't deliver - you might as well toss your money down the toilet because you're NEVER going to reach for something terrible.

However, investing 99 cents in a great, pigmented red is the way to go.  This baby has staying power and I'm really digging the finish.  I think it does a really good job of making teeth whiter.

What's your drugstore indulgence?  Would you grab a lipstick for 99 cents or save up for something bigger/better?

XOXO
