Fiery orange nails with OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? (Plus a FOTD!)

As recently promised, I'm bringing you another polish from the Fall 2012 OPI Germany collection!  This is Deutsch You Want Me Baby? and I think it's the perfect Fall color.

Of course, not like it has to be Fall for me to wear a glowy orange on my tips!

This dries very true to bottle but it does show brush marks easily.  Mine has some pretty visible stripes so you need to keep your hand steady when painting this one on your nails.

This reminds me of a glowing fire or the leaves of a tree changing color.  I think this would look really nice with a silver glitter on top, or maybe even a red glitter.

You can see my brush stroke veering off to the right on my middle finger.  Ignore the sloppy job - I was just wanting to swatch this color but it's not my final destination for the night!

I have a review for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Want You To Want Me palette coming up later this week but I played around with some of the pieces and thought I'd share my FOTD today!

Liquid eyeliners will be the death of me - how do they work?!  I wish I could get the hang of them, but for now I'll take this rather shoddy cat eye look.

I layered Members Only and Graphic T's as my two shadows for a nice, matte look which would make the liquid liner pop.

I decided to do a dramatic lip because why not?  I thought about adding some gloss but I watched "Titanic" last night and was super-obsessed with Kate Winslet's matte lips throughout.  I update the look by using matte pink.

Sparkly nails don't last long with Lorelei's Tiara

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans!  I hope you're having as great of a day as I am.  Good times with good friends and family....oh, and good food!

Anyway, here's a sparkly, silver glitter mani to get you excited:

This is China Glaze Lorelei's Tiara.  This contains silver micro-glitter and small, light ocean blue glitter.  This is supposed to give it a 3D kind of look.

This bottle is problematic because it is thick and goopy.  A nice, thin coat is impossible.

I was able to thin out the formula some with thinner but it took A TON.  Seriously, I must have used about 30 drops.  (I feel like a normal polish takes about 3 drops while a glitter might take 10.)  Although this thinned the polish, the polish on the brush stayed thick and gloopy.

This makes a beautiful manicure with a lot of visual impact; however, it chips super easily due to the goopy nature.  I've also had this polish lift off in one clean sheet only hours after applying!  No good.

There are better formulas than this out there.  OPI Crown Me Already comes to mind, but I know there are others if you look.  I'd probably skip this one.

Madonna meets James Bond in today's NOTD!

Today I have two wonderful polishes to show you!  The first is Nicole by OPI Paparazzi Don't Preach. Don't act like you don't love that song...

Seriously...just press play and listen while you read this!  LOL!

*Ahem*  Anyway, this polish is part of the Kim Kardashian collection (Kollection?).  This color is only carried in CVS stores.

This color is a perfect neutral that's perfect for event he most conservative workplaces.

The formula definitely requires two coats.  The first is way too thin; however, this can get goopy and thick quickly.  Just keep your second coat fairly thin and you should be okay.

You can see some patchy spots on my nails.  You can fix this with a third coat but, like I said, it gets thick quickly.

This formula isn't perfect but it is very nice for a quick, work-appropriate nail!

Now this gorgeous glitter is The Living Daylights by OPI!  This is from the new Skyfall collection as part of the new Bond movie promotion.  I am a huge Bond fan thanks to my dad who is also a big 007 fan!

CANNOT WAIT!

I have been positively freaking out over this collection and I want EVERY SINGLE COLOR.  I restrained myself and picked only four but I'm hoping some of the others will end up in my Christmas stocking this year!

This contains silver, gold, copper, and aqua hexagonal glitter in a clear base.  AMAZING!  I haven't seen a glitter like this before.  I love when a company does something unique.

This is two coats of OPI The Living Daylights over NOPI Paparazzi Don't Preach.  I absolutely love this glitter and it's everything I drooled over leading up to this Skyfall release!

Next time I'm planning on trying this over a coppery polish or a turquoise polish.  I think it would look ravishing over Milani Key West.

NOTD: Sparkly, purple disco nails!

I was having crazy insomnia the other night so I got out of bed to paint my nails.  It never fails that if I have wet nails and need to be careful around the sheets, I instantly get sleepy and want to curl up!  Never knew nail polish could cure sleeplessness did you?!

I used one coat of China Glaze Magnetix in Instant Chemistry and Sephora by OPI in It's Bouquet with Me.

Instant Chemistry is a magnetic polish but of course you can just use it as it is - without a magnet.

Instant Chemistry is an eggplant cream polish with very slight shimmer.

It's Bouquet with Me is a purple and silver glitter.  The silver glitters flash rainbow colors and it's seriously beautiful!

Don't be a flake! Oh wait...yes! Be a flake!

Today I’m being cruel and showing you a polish that you simply can’t get anymore!  This beauty is Finger Paints Asylum and it was only available at Sally Beauty stores through the month of January this year.  It was $5.49 but you can find a few on eBay for DRASTIC mark-ups.  Please, please don’t pay $26 for this bottle, my friends.  

However, it is incredibly glorious!  If you’ve never heard of flakie polish, allow me to introduce you!  The idea is to layer a flakie polish over a dark color, preferably black.  I’ve used a dark eggplant color before but the effect was not nearly as nice as over black.

The effect is given off from tiny flakes inside a clear base.  The bottle I have, Asylum, has red and blue flakes that flash different colors at different angles.  I see purple, orange, and green.  I liken the flakie effect to that of a beetle’s shell:  shiny, iridescent, and captivating from all angles.

I started with a layer of my basecoat (Orly Bonder) and then two layers of OPI Black Onyx.  Then, I did two layers of Finger Paints Asylum.  Flakies take a little while longer to dry, so be patient between coats.  Then, I topped it all off with a coat of Seche Vite.

See that green?!

I really love this effect and think it’s lovely as we head into fall.  Unfortunately, not many polish brands have flakies yet.  I do hope that more brands will get on the trend because I adore them!  

(Oh, and trust that I would have picked up one or two more of these at Sally’s but they were already sold out when I got there THE DAY AFTER they released!  Polish addicts were all over these cheap babies!)

If you give a girl some makeup...

Have you ever read If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff?  My mom used to read that to me all the time when I was little and it's an awesome book!

Anyway, the book is about how if you give a mouse a cookie he'll also want milk and a story and...

Well, sometimes I feel that way about my makeup!  Yesterday, I had to run to Kroger and I was barefaced.  I thought, "I'll just put on some milk of magnesia."  Then, since I was already at my makeup table I decided that I should put on some BB cream to test for wear.  Then I thought, "Well, it'd just be rude not to put on some blush..."

Long story short, I ended up with a full face of makeup.  Whoops!  Anyway, here's the eye look I ended up with:

Yeahhh...that's a turquoise cat-eye look.  A little dramatic for Kroger, yes?  Well, I've been wanting to try it for a while and what better time than a Saturday afternoon?  I used Urban Decay's Deep End out of my 15 Year Anniversary Palette.  I applied it wet with a small concealer brush.  I was pretty happy with how it turned out!

Later that night I thought I might as well top the whole turquoise look up with one of my favorite nail polishes.

This little pretty is Milani Nail Lacquer in Key West.  If you've never visited the lovely Key West you should definitely go!  It is a party all the time and a very fun place to be.  I think the namesake of this polish is why it has such a special place in my heart.

This is a beautiful turquoise/teal foil.  The color is so deep and amazing - I can't find a fault with this!  I'm wearing two coats in these pictures.  The color is thin enough to work with easily and it dries quickly.  I also have great wearing power with this baby.  You can find it in some CVS stores or you can but it on Milani's website for $4.49.

A sparkly party on my nails!

I have a very pretty NOTD for you today!

I started with my Orly Bonder base coat and then used one coat of China Glaze For Audrey.  This particular polish is the same color of a Tiffany's box!  However, the brush is uneven and scratchy.  Plus, I feel like this polish is a bit thick.  I prefer my polishes thinner and a little runnier.  Anyway, it's a nice polish!

Then I added one coat of Sephora by OPI Spark-tacular! Top Coat.  I wanted this product FOREVER but my Sephora never had it.  I finally got it and I've loved it!  It has pieces of multi-size, multi-shaped, multi-color glitter.  That's pretty much perfect in my book!

I finished up the whole thing with a coat of Seche Vite.  LOVE IT!
