Fiery orange nails with OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? (Plus a FOTD!)

As recently promised, I'm bringing you another polish from the Fall 2012 OPI Germany collection!  This is Deutsch You Want Me Baby? and I think it's the perfect Fall color.

Of course, not like it has to be Fall for me to wear a glowy orange on my tips!

This dries very true to bottle but it does show brush marks easily.  Mine has some pretty visible stripes so you need to keep your hand steady when painting this one on your nails.

This reminds me of a glowing fire or the leaves of a tree changing color.  I think this would look really nice with a silver glitter on top, or maybe even a red glitter.

You can see my brush stroke veering off to the right on my middle finger.  Ignore the sloppy job - I was just wanting to swatch this color but it's not my final destination for the night!

I have a review for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Want You To Want Me palette coming up later this week but I played around with some of the pieces and thought I'd share my FOTD today!

Liquid eyeliners will be the death of me - how do they work?!  I wish I could get the hang of them, but for now I'll take this rather shoddy cat eye look.

I layered Members Only and Graphic T's as my two shadows for a nice, matte look which would make the liquid liner pop.

I decided to do a dramatic lip because why not?  I thought about adding some gloss but I watched "Titanic" last night and was super-obsessed with Kate Winslet's matte lips throughout.  I update the look by using matte pink.

Here's what I used:
- Neutrogena Shine Control Primer
- Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in N117
- Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in Fair to Light (as an undereye concealer)
- tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
- tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Adventurous
- Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows in Members Only and Graphic T's
- Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid eyeliner in Jet
L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara (not pictured)
- Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel
- Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Berlin

XOXO

I'm still loving on the Fall 2012 OPI Germany collection!

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with OPI nail polish!  It also isn't a secret that I totally freaked out for the Germany (Fall) and Holland (Spring/Summer) collections that came out last year.  Today I wanted to show you two polishes that were instant LOVE items for me!

Sure...they look pretty much identical.  I wonder how many people just picked up one and ignored the other thinking it was the same.

On the left is "Every Month is Oktoberfest" and on the right is "Germanincure by OPI."  Although they look similar, they are definitely different on the nail.

L - Every Month is Oktoberfest, R - Germanincure by OPI

As you can see, Every Month is Oktoberfest is is a deep, plummy wine color whereas Germanicure by OPI is a deepened red.
Thumb - both
Pointer and ring finger - Every Month is Oktoberfest
Middle and pinky finger - Germanicure by OPI

Comparison shots never hurt, right?!

Pointer and ring finger - Every Month is Oktoberfest
Middle and pinky finger - Germanicure by OPI
As you can see, they definitely aren't dupes even though they are in the bottles.  I love these polishes and Every Month is Oktoberfest is probably my favorite from the whole collection.  These swatches are only one coat!  Have to love a quick nail fix!

You need these - so amazing and love the colors!

You can probably still find these hanging around Ulta stores or you can search Amazon.

(I also have Deutsch You Want Me Baby?, Berlin There Done That, and Schnapps Out Of It! from the Germany collection!  Will review those ASAP!  In regards to the Holland collection, I have Kiss Me on My Tulips and A Roll in the Hague.  I'm so tempted to snag Thanks a Windmillion but I haven't yet!)

XOXO

There's nothing tempting about this Temptress' Kiss

I've already shown you the L'Oreal and Project Runway collaboration lip glosses that I picked up but today I wanted to share with you the lipstick I grabbed.

This is The Temptress' Kiss and it's a good Fall color (although we're well past that now).  I feel like the stores around me are always so late in putting out product that we're already on to the next season.

This shade is a vampy burgundy/plum color and I've been wanting to add a shade like this to my stash for forever.

Unfortunately, the color isn't as opaque as I'd hoped, as you can see from these swatch photos.  I had to run the bullet over my arm several times to get the opacity you see here:

You may be wondering why I don't have lip swatches...well...I couldn't stand the smell.  Seriously, this smells like burning plastic and chemicals.  When I applied it, I thought I might literally be sick.  I decided to test it anyway but had to remove it after about 45 minutes because I kept gagging at the smell.

I gifted this to my sister because she loves to wear lip colors like this.  I warned her about the smell but she opened it and sniffed it and said it didn't bother her at all.  Weird!  I'm not super sensitive to fragrances but this was just a big no for me.

In the short time that I wore it, I found it to be very drying.  Considering that I had it on for less than an hour and it dried my lips, I'd say that's a pretty bad sign.

Add together the foul smell, poor color payoff, and drying property and this is a dud.  My sister seems to like it so I'm glad it works for someone!

You can find this in most drugstores or online HERE for $6.26.
XOXO

No Plain Jane doesn't live up to her name

Sometimes I like to go bargain-bin diving.  I mean...who doesn't, right?  Well, I found this polish in the clearance bin at Sally's when I was out of town.  (Yes, I go beauty shopping when I'm out of town!  Lol.)

This is China Glaze No Plain Jane.  Now, I knew from reading Scrangie that No Plain Jane was a duochrome from the New Bohemian Luster Chrome collection for Fall 2012.

However, her polish had a silver cap and mine has a black cap.  It makes me wonder if I got something different?  (What is my deal with weird purples this week?)  Whatever the case may be, my polish doesn't really look as glorious as her bottle.

This is a purple metallic kind of color which seems to have some dull duochrome.  My bottle seems to shift from taupe to sage green and sometimes gold.

As you can see on my nails, the polish looks different from different angles.

Meh.  This almost looked taupe-ish brown at some angles which isn't really my nail style.  The purple is ok but not something I'm just adoring.

I'm glad I got this on sale for $3.29.  This might just go in the giveaway pile.

XOXO

Semi-matte red lips look classic with MAC Eden Rouge

So, after I fell head over heels in love with MAC Fashion Nomad I convinced myself that I needed Eden Rouge.  (It's limited edition!)

This is part of the MAC StyleSeeker collection, which you can still find on MAC's website.  Unfortunately, it seems like most of the colors are sold out so you might want to check your local MAC counter.

Please forgive me for being a bad beauty blogger and forgetting to save my box!  I just tore into it and now I can't find the box anymore.  But I promise it looks just like the Fashion Nomad box! ;-)

MAC describes Eden Rouge as "bright, blue-red" which I think is a very fitting description.  This is a nice, true red.

I lined my lips with Too Faced Perfect Lips Lipliner in Perfect Red which I plan to review ASAP!

Gorgeous!  I love the beautiful, semi-matte finish.  I think it makes my lips look pouty and full.  Plus, red is SO classic.  I think a lot of reds end up looking cheap but this one is really great and looks elegant.

I find that it has the same great wear that Fashion Nomad provides but does tend to slip around a wee bit more.  Lining lips is really essential for this one.

You need it!  Now if I can just find Camden Chic my life will be complete!  Lol!

XOXO

Fall nails sparkle with the colors of changing leaves

Have I mentioned how much I love Fall?  Yes, I know I have.  So I couldn't resist this Sinful Colors glitter polish because the red and gold sparkles make me think of changing leaves.

This baby is Pumpkin Spice and I layered it over Nailtiques Milan.  I tried it over OPI Big Apple Red and OPI Black Onyx and neither of them looked right!  Milan actually worked better.

Ahhhh - I love sparkles!

I used a base coat (Orly Bonder), two coats of Milan, one coat of Pumpkin Spice, one coat Orly topcoat.

(with flash)

I thought Milan would look too purpleish but it really looks like a deep red under the glitter.

You could build this glitter up even more if you wanted to!

I usually hate Sinful Colors but this one is a winner!  Love, love, love.  This mani reminds me of a campside fire on a crisp autumn evening.  So awesome!

You need this - it's only $1.99!  You can grab these at lots of drugstores and I got mine at Walgreens.

(Is it bad that this also reminds me of Gryffindor?!)

XOXO

Maybelline Color Tattoo heralds the beginning of Fall!

I know I've mentioned it before but it's really, really true:  Fall is my favorite season EVER!  I have had an eye on the new limited edition (LE) shades of Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow since they first started circulating online.  Maybelline's Fall collection looks fabulous and these shades are no exception:

(Plus some candy corn for that real Fall feel!)

These shades are thoroughly Fall!  We've got Rich Mahogany, Mossy Green, Barely Beige, Gold Shimmer.

These are just so lovely and I knew I had to have them!  They are quite on par with the permanent Color Tattoo shades:  creamy, long-wearing, crease-resistant.

Rich Mahogany

Mossy Green

Barely Beige

Gold Shimmer

However, they have a couple of the same problems.  In the following swatches, only Gold Shimmer is one swipe.  The others are two swipes.  These take a few layers to really build up and just a little while to dry down.

L-R
Barely Beige, Mossy Green, Gold Shimmer, Rich Mahogany

I expected to love Mossy Green most but I actually adore Gold Shimmer the best!  These colors are just SO FALL and really reflect what I love about the cosmetics of the season!

These are currently BOGO 50% off at both CVS and Walgreens.  They're $6.99 each and I found mine at Walgreens.  If you're only hauling one - grab Gold Shimmer.

XOXO

Breakin' up is hard to do when it's with Too Faced!

A Breakup Letter to the Too Faced The Return Of Sexy Eye Shadow Palette

Let’s go ahead and get this out of the way:  It’s not me, it’s you.

At first glance, you seemed perfect.  I knew the minute I saw your first promotional pictures floating around the Internet that we were destined for each other.

See, you include 15 shadows grouped into three different looks:  natural/nude, purple, and gray smoky.  These are my three favorite looks so I really thought we could go everywhere together!  (I even thought about leaving my long-time love, the Urban Decay Naked Palette for you!)

Plus, you came with the added bonus of a 0.04 oz Perfect Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner in Perfect Black and a 0.17 oz Deluxe Shadow Insurance Eye Shadow Primer.  Your attractive and sturdy packaging sealed the deal:  you were mine.

However, things took a turn for the worse the first time we tried to get together.  I was trying the purple colors and was immensely disappointed.  Let me list your offenses:  dry, poorly pigmented, and not easy to blend.  FOR SHAME!  I tried brushes and sponge tip applicators, both wet and dry to no avail.  I was surprised that you weren’t getting along with the Shadow Insurance Primer.

Then I tried to use your Eyeliner in Perfect Black with ridiculous results.  You were overly soft and smudged all over my eyes.  Back up, dude, a girl needs time to smudge you.

Which leads me to my next point:  Imagine my surprise when, a mere four hours later, I looked in the mirror to see you jeepin' creasing!

Oh, Clueless.  You never cease to delight!

I am a lady and as such, I’m used to my shadow sticking around and staying diligently in place.  You, on the other hand, had bunched up and distributed color in all the wrong places.  Who do you think you are?!  (And unfortunately, it’s not just your purple shades but rather ALL your shades.)

Not only was the shadow creasing, my eyeliner had migrated to my lower lash line and tear duct in ridiculously unattractive fashion.  Patchy, black goop everywhere?  Yeah, I’m not feeling it.

Finally, your most egregious offense is this:  You made me cry.  Literally.  My eyes are incredibly resilient but I found them tearing up when using your eyeliner.  I also have red, puffy, sensitive areas on the inner parts of my lids.  I don’t know if it’s the shadow, primer, or eyeliner doing it to me; however, the problem started when you came around.

So let’s get this straight:  We are done.  I thought we could make it, I really did.  I lemmed after you and even told the world about it.  How embarrassing.  You’re going back to where you came from (Sephora) and I’m moving on with my life.  Don’t call me.

No XOXOs for you, Return of Sexy Palette!

-K

P.S.
You also promised me mattes.  What a lie.  I don’t see any.

P.P.S.
Your shades looked frosty on ME, the palest of the pale.  I can’t imagine how horrendous some of your shades would look on deeper toned ladies.

P.P.P.S.
I did appreciate the three instruction sheets with six totals looks; however, they aren't worth anything if the shades don't work!
