Metallic red lips with Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick

Remember when I raved my tube of Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick?  Well today I'm bring you the new Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick!

I have Adora which Sephora simply describes as "bright red."  There are so many good things to say about this new product!

I love the cute packaging!

First, the color is BAM!  Super pigmented and very vibrant!  The staying power is great (although not quite as wonderful as the Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick).  This one also has a doe-foot applicator and only requires a tiny bit of product to get full coverage.

The color is opaque in just one stroke!

Plus, the finish is different:  Everlasting Love Liquid Lipsticks are matte whereas these are "metallic."

Sure, there's some metallic to it, but these are still semi-matte, in my humble opinion.

All in all, I prefer the Everlasting Love just because I think the matte is gorgeous.  If matte isn't your thing, you may really adore these!

You can pick this up for $19 in Sephora stores or online HERE.

XOXO

Shocker: I'm disappointed with this orange lipgloss

Ok, in order to read this post, go read The Muse's post first!

You're back?  Good.  Ok, now look at the promo image again.  Whoa...those are some orange lips on the model!  You know I'm loving it.

So, of course I went out and bought Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Captivating Coral.

Doe-foot applicator = my favorite

So far, so good!
I had high, high expectations of tangerine lips with this...

 *whomp whomp*

How disappointed was I?!  Sure...this has some orange in it...but I wanted so much more orange!  Please go back and look at the promo image again and tell me that my lips look similar in color.  Yeah...you can't.

Sure, maybe they layer the gloss over a lipstick on the model but it's a little misleading to put it on the promo if that's not really the color you can expect to get.

And yes, I know that advertisers lie.  I know that advertisers mislead.  But this is really disappointing for someone obsessed with orange lips - I already have glosses like this.

That brings me to my next point:

Look at the small amount of product that actually resides in this packaging.  Sure, the tube seems big but it's actually pretty small.  This has 0.17 oz of product for $6.79.  Let's think about the fact that I spent $14 for FOUR 0.169 oz tubes of lipgloss from Sephora.  That's 0.676 oz for $14.  So, comparing apples to apples:  the Maybelline is $39.94 / 1 oz and the Sephora is $20.71 / 1 oz.  The Sephora is a much better value for what I consider to be a superior product.

Do you need this?  Nope.  Save your pennies for something more pigmented.

You can purchase HERE if you so desire.

Adventures in foreign lip products at my local Indian grocery store!

Yesterday I went searching for some henna so that I can touch up my desperately-needing-it roots.  I ended up at an Indian grocery store with some high hopes!  Sure enough, I found some packages so I'll be posting about henna ussage soon.

And then I saw the beauty rack!  I've been looking for a good purple lipstick for a while.  I know...me? Purple?  YES!  Maybe it's just the Fall or maybe it's my love for purple but I really wanted some.

Lipgloss, Deepest Purple, Tornato

So, I grabbed two lipsticks and a lipgloss from the shelf.  They were each $1.29!  What a steal!

Unfortunately, I don't have the name of the lipgloss in front of me, nor do I have the tube with me.  The lipsticks are 178 Deepest Purple and 168 Tornato.  They're from a line called Princessa but unfortunately I can't find them anywhere online.  You'll just have to scout out your local Indian store!

L-R: Lipgloss, Deepest Purple, Deepest Purple with gloss on top, Tornato, Tornato with gloss on top

You'll see why, but I really felt these lipsticks worked best with the lipgloss layered over the top.

Get ready for a bunch of pictures!

Lipgloss only

Lipgloss only
The gloss is nice and opaque.  I think the color is really great and definitely appears more purple in person.
Deepest Purple

Deepest Purple

Deepest Purple with gloss

Deepest Purple with gloss
You can see that Deepest Purple has spotty application.  I seriously layered and layered this without too much success.  I finally just gave up and threw the gloss on top.  The opaque nature of the gloss really helps fill in the patches.

Tornato

Tornato

Tornato with gloss

Tornato with gloss
I definitely think this is my favorite combination; however, Tornato also suffers from pretty poor application.  Plus, the bullet feels dry and draggy.  That translates on lips to dry, dry skin.  My lips felt totally parched after wearing these lipsticks for just a couple of hours.

The gloss is a winner, especially at $1.29!  However, you can definitely pass on these lipsticks.  The gloss is smooth, smells like fruit punch, and has no discernible taste.

I may go back for a few more glosses but I definitely will skip on any more lipsticks.  These are going into my "special occasion" drawer!

BTW:  My sweet coworker let me swatch these on her darker skin so I could see how they'd look.  No surprise - these would really sing on darker-skinned ladies!

Oh, and here's me rocking purple lips!

Vanity Flair by Prestige Cosmetics is too cute!

Get ready for a super-picture-heavy post while I rave my new Prestige Cosmetics Vanity Flair palette!

This little beauty is available for $15 at Prestige Cosmetics.  (Also, they're currently having free shipping on your entire order when you purchase the Vanity Flair or Indulge Me palettes!  Score!)

The name is fitting because this palette is designed like a wee little vanity.  It's so cute that I actually squealed when I opened it!  Plus, you know I'm a sucker for anything purple!

The package opens up with two doors that are held together with strong magnets.  They didn't skimp on the magnets so you don't have to worry about this popping open.

This palette has nine shades that you can combine in a variety of ways to create awesome looks.  For example, you can combine colors in vertical lines (String of Pearls, Taupe Notch, Shopping Spree), horizontal lines (Chick Flick, Girls Night, String of Pearls) or diagonally (Chick Flick, Bauble Blues, Shopping Spree).  It's really endless but that can often be a good way to start breaking up a palette and getting some ideas.)

The shades are buttery and dense with great color payoff.

Columns are swatched in the same order:

(My favorite trio!)

Right door.
The detailing on this palette is too gorgeous!  Look at the cute little perfume bottle and flowers!  I think these touches really help a palette to stand out.

Left door with mirror.  Don't you love the little products in the bottom, left-hand corner?!

Here's an eye look I created using String of Pearls on the browbone, Taupe Notch in the crease, and Shopping Spree on the lid.

My only complaint about this palette is that the color can start to get a little bit muddied when you try to blend.  Just be precise in your application and limit your blending.  You can always pop just a bit more color on top, if necessary.

Eyeliner is Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Mushroom.
This is one of my favorite palettes because I think the colors are all great together and the palette offers a lot of potential looks!  Do you need it?  Yes, for only $15 this is really a steal and will look gorgeous sitting on your makeup table.

Indulge your inner girly-girl and pick it up HERE

XOXO
