Black Lipsticks

The other day at work a trio of teenage girls were roaming the counters in search of a black lipstick.  As much as I wanted to help, I couldn't find a black lipstick at ANY of the counters!  However, it got me thinking - where could these girls find a perfect black lipstick?  Some brands popped into my mind so here goes a list:

1.  Jeffree Star Cosmetics in Weirdo - $18

Jeffree Star Cosmetics has some really unique and beautiful colors!  I've never used them, but Weirdo promises to be a dark, deep matte black.  Click HERE to buy!

2.  Portland Black Lipstick Company - $9

Surely a company with "Black Lipstick" in its name has a fantastic black!  It currently appears that they don't have it in their Etsy Store (located HERE) but keep an eye out for it!

3.  OCC Lip Tar in Tarred - $18

I can attest that OCC Lip Tars are super-pigmented, long-lasting, and wonderful!  A little tube will last FOREVER.  You can pick up a tube HERE.

4.   Melt Cosmetics in Bane - $19

I've been stalking Melt Cosmetics on Instagram forever now and their lip colors are amazing!  This color would be perfect for someone seeking a black lipstick!  Buy it HERE.

5.  Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick in Slayer - $21

This one comes with the added benefit of a rocking tube!  I think this is one of the neatest tubes on the market.  You'll look like a total punk pulling this out of your bag!  Pick it up HERE.

I've never wanted to branch out into black lipstick, but I fully support people wearing what makes them happy!  Do you have a favorite black lipstick?

This bright orange Maybelline blush will make your Spring!

Today I wanted to show you two Maybelline Color Goes Electric LE blushes:  Coral Burst and Golden Fuse.  An electric orange blush?  Count me curious!

These beautiful blushes cost about $7.50/each when I found them at Walgreens.  I haven't had any luck finding them in CVS yet.

The orange is glorious and can be built up to an amazing, deep flush.  The golden color is perfect for a some subtle warmth and shimmer.  I actually used mine as a bronzer but I know many people could pull this off as a highlighter.

Do you need these?  Yes!  Well, you must have the orange blush.  The quality is impeccable and saved me from the terrible lemming I've been having to buy a bright orange NARS blush like Exhibit A.

See if you can find them in your local stores - you won't regret it!

I can't stop listening to these two songs!  OMG, it's just constant!

Get a Megawatt Smile with Hard Candy lipstick

It's an unfortunate truth that orange lipstick/gloss can often make your teeth look a little yellow.  (It's a risk I'm willing to take, dears!)

Anyway, Hard Candy has decided to include a teeth whitener with their new lipstick.  This is Megawatt Smile Lipstick + Tooth Whitener in Coral.  Of course, this lipstick comes in lots of colors so you can make your pearly whites even whiter!

The lipstick has a moisturizing core of clear balm and is attached to a pot of whitener with a small brush.

Can I attest to just how much this makes your teeth whiter?  Not really - it's hard to tell if you aren't consistently using it.  The taste is decent - slightly lemony in taste and smell.

I have to say that I adore this color.  It's orange, shimmery, balmy, and long-wearing.  It has a nice slip that still manages to stay in place.

Do you need this?  Heck yes!  I love it - you can find it in Walmart for $6.  Buy it HERE.

Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream is *totally not* a BB cream!

Everyone knows I love BB creams!  (Check out my other reviews HERE!)

So I couldn't resist grabbing a bottle of Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in Fair to Light.  I have to be excited about an oil-free BB cream since the Korean ones usually have oil.

I grabbed this from a CVS aisle thinking it was $8, but when I got to the counter it rang up as $13.  Turns out they had mispriced them on the shelf but the great people at CVS gave it to me for the discounted rate anyway!

This promises six "skin perfecting benefits": refreshes, brightens, evens tone, hydrates, smoothes, protects.

With an SPF 15 level, I have to say the "protect" claim is pretty dismal.  (Especially when you consider that you would have to wear a lot to protect your face fully.)

I wish I could rave this harder...but it's just not a BB cream.  It's more like a barely tinted sunscreen.  I don't even want to call it a tinted moisturizer!  I feel like this does a nice job blurring some minor imperfections, but it really doesn't provide any coverage at all.

This feels nice, silky, and light on skin but don't expect coverage and don't expect staying power.  This starts to fade after about two hours so touch-ups are necessary.

Unfortunately, this turns to Shine City literally 45 seconds after application.  Powder is a MUST with this product.  So, using powder kind of ruins the idea of applying more later.

Still, on days where my skin is looking particularly good I can get away with this.  I also like to use this on the weekends when I'm going for a "no makeup" look but still want to have some minor coverage.

Have you tried it?  Love it?  Let me know!

Fiery orange nails with OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? (Plus a FOTD!)

As recently promised, I'm bringing you another polish from the Fall 2012 OPI Germany collection!  This is Deutsch You Want Me Baby? and I think it's the perfect Fall color.

Of course, not like it has to be Fall for me to wear a glowy orange on my tips!

This dries very true to bottle but it does show brush marks easily.  Mine has some pretty visible stripes so you need to keep your hand steady when painting this one on your nails.

This reminds me of a glowing fire or the leaves of a tree changing color.  I think this would look really nice with a silver glitter on top, or maybe even a red glitter.

You can see my brush stroke veering off to the right on my middle finger.  Ignore the sloppy job - I was just wanting to swatch this color but it's not my final destination for the night!

I have a review for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Want You To Want Me palette coming up later this week but I played around with some of the pieces and thought I'd share my FOTD today!

Liquid eyeliners will be the death of me - how do they work?!  I wish I could get the hang of them, but for now I'll take this rather shoddy cat eye look.

I layered Members Only and Graphic T's as my two shadows for a nice, matte look which would make the liquid liner pop.

I decided to do a dramatic lip because why not?  I thought about adding some gloss but I watched "Titanic" last night and was super-obsessed with Kate Winslet's matte lips throughout.  I update the look by using matte pink.

Here's what I used:
- Neutrogena Shine Control Primer
- Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in N117
- Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in Fair to Light (as an undereye concealer)
- tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
- tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Adventurous
- Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows in Members Only and Graphic T's
- Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid eyeliner in Jet
L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara (not pictured)
- Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel
- Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Berlin
