Fiery orange nails with OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? (Plus a FOTD!)

As recently promised, I'm bringing you another polish from the Fall 2012 OPI Germany collection!  This is Deutsch You Want Me Baby? and I think it's the perfect Fall color.

Of course, not like it has to be Fall for me to wear a glowy orange on my tips!

This dries very true to bottle but it does show brush marks easily.  Mine has some pretty visible stripes so you need to keep your hand steady when painting this one on your nails.

This reminds me of a glowing fire or the leaves of a tree changing color.  I think this would look really nice with a silver glitter on top, or maybe even a red glitter.

You can see my brush stroke veering off to the right on my middle finger.  Ignore the sloppy job - I was just wanting to swatch this color but it's not my final destination for the night!

I have a review for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Want You To Want Me palette coming up later this week but I played around with some of the pieces and thought I'd share my FOTD today!

Liquid eyeliners will be the death of me - how do they work?!  I wish I could get the hang of them, but for now I'll take this rather shoddy cat eye look.

I layered Members Only and Graphic T's as my two shadows for a nice, matte look which would make the liquid liner pop.

I decided to do a dramatic lip because why not?  I thought about adding some gloss but I watched "Titanic" last night and was super-obsessed with Kate Winslet's matte lips throughout.  I update the look by using matte pink.

Get into a state of zen with Kat Von D pigment in Meditation

Ok, can I make a confession?  I have zero experience with pigments.  Seriously.  I have no idea how I'm supposed to use them.  Pigments are just a big, scary realm of the makeup world that I haven't entered yet...

Until now.  That's right - I picked up a Kat Von D True Romance pigment in Meditation on Black Friday.  It was on super-duper clearance for only $7.  I check Sephora's website and I don't see them posted anymore.  Boo.  I imagine you might can still scoop some up in stores or you can find them on Amazon HERE.

Why haven't I used pigments before?  Well, for one thing, what should I apply them with?  Brushes?  Sponge-tip applicators?  Wet or dry?  Do I need a bonding or mixing agent?  

Seriously, I had no idea.  So I figured I would bite the bullet and try this one since this color makes me do grabby hands every time I see it.  Seriously, bronzy rose gold?  Yeah, I'm on it.  Alllllll over it.

This pigment comes in a hefty 0.17 oz jar with a sifter top.  The beautiful packaging is part of the allure of Kat Von D for me.

Ahh, perfection!  I dove right in and just used a sponge-tip applicator to apply dry to my lids.  I applied over Urban Decay Primer Potion (UDPP) but I always use UDPP because of my oily lids.

This stayed put with zero creasing or fading.  After nine hours it was still packing a punch!  Love it!
  

I tried to compare this to other colors in my stash and even though I have similar ones I definitely don't have an exact dupe.  From left to right this is:  

Kat Von D Meditation, 2nd shade in the Lorac Satisfying Toffee Crunch palette, Urban Decay Sin, Urban Decay Toasted (probably the closest dupe), Wet n Wild Walking on Eggshells eyelid shade, Wet n Wild Comfort Zone left eyelid shade, Prestige Cosmetics Knockout

I suppose you should check your stash before purchasing to see if you have anything similar.  For $7 this is a great addition; however, I wouldn't be comfortable paying the almost $20 I'm seeing in other places.  Yes, this is a nice shade but you could put $20 toward a much larger set that contains lots of shades.

Metallic red lips with Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick

Remember when I raved my tube of Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick?  Well today I'm bring you the new Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick!  

I have Adora which Sephora simply describes as "bright red."  There are so many good things to say about this new product!

I love the cute packaging!

First, the color is BAM!  Super pigmented and very vibrant!  The staying power is great (although not quite as wonderful as the Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick).  This one also has a doe-foot applicator and only requires a tiny bit of product to get full coverage.  

The color is opaque in just one stroke!

Plus, the finish is different:  Everlasting Love Liquid Lipsticks are matte whereas these are "metallic." 

Sure, there's some metallic to it, but these are still semi-matte, in my humble opinion.

All in all, I prefer the Everlasting Love just because I think the matte is gorgeous.  If matte isn't your thing, you may really adore these!

Kat Von D promises tattoo strength foundation - and she delivers!

Kat Von D is on a roll with some wonderful new products, y'all!  This new foundation is sooooo neat - check it out!

This is Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation.  According to the packaging, it has:

*Full Coverage

*24-Hour Wear (WHY?!)

*Transfer Resistant

*Matte Finish

*Fragrance Free

*Oil-Free

Let's all remember that you don't need to wear foundation for 24 hours, mmmkay?

Anyway, this is awesome because I usually can't rock full coverage products because they have oil.  Plus, they feel incredibly mask-like and ewww.  I was shade-matched at Sephora as Light 44.  I think the color is just a wee bit yellow for my skin but it blends out just fine.

This bottle is $34 for 1 fl oz (purchase HERE).  The beauty is that you literally need half a pump for your entire face!  Why?  Well, according to Sephora's website this product contains 21% pigment!  Wow!

I love the design of the bottle; however, I wish the bottom told me the shade name/number more elegantly than this stamp.

This swatch is literally a tiny, tiny size.  A full pump is about the size of a small pea.  And I only use half pump for my entire face!  The risk with this product is that too much product will make your face look cakey.  Instead, start with a teensy tiny amount and build.

I use the e.l.f. Studio Powder Brush ($3) on my friend Megan's recommendation.  It seriously works!  The flat top with the densely packed bristles help to blend the makeup to an air-brushed-like finish.  You can pick up this brush HERE - it's totally a HG product for me.

Now, I had heard great things about this product covering scars.  Personally, I don't cover my scars because I like them.   (I have chicken pox scars on my face, two scars on my left hand, and a 7 inch scar on my collarbone from corrective surgery.)  This is a personal cosmetic choice but I know lots and lots of people prefer to cover their scars.  To each his own!

Ehhh...not wonderful.  Plus, I made the big mistake of using too much product on my hand.  I promise it's not that cakey on your face if you use the right amount.  Sure, the scars look diminished but they aren't GONE.  

I think you could touch this up with some concealer to make it all go away.  I don't find that my deep chicken pox scars on my face are adequately covered up with the product, either.  Of course, my tiny acne scars do get covered up very well.  (I won't subject you to pics of those!  Lol.)  Also, the sales associate at Sephora covered up my collarbone scar with this just to test it.  I found that it made it virtually invisible when looking in the mirror.  (I owe a lot of that to Mederma, lol!) 

Let's talk about staying power:  this baby lasts ALL DAY.  Seriously.  It rocks on without oxidizing or smearing.  Washing it off can be a pain and you'll need a good washcloth or Clarisonic to get it all off.

Do you need this?  If you're looking for a full-coverage foundation that doesn't make your skin feel trapped, you would totally enjoy it!  If you need it to cover up big scars, you'll find that it reduces their appearance but that you'll still want to top off with some concealer.

Kat Von D was made for me

I must confess that a very odd part of me caused me to avoid the Kat Von D makeup display at Sephora.  “How can she possibly be attracted to Jesse James?  That girl must have NO sense at all!” I thought.  Somehow, this translated in my mind to, “I refuse to buy Kat Von D products!”  

Of course, the Ludwig Eye Palette called my name, especially since my friend, Erika, strongly recommended it.  However, I managed to stay away until a friendly visiting makeup artist at Sephora told me about the ridiculous staying power of the new Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick ($19 for 0.18 fl oz).

She said, “I was looking for a sheer, bright pink to wear on vacation.  I thought *this* would do it, but it’s ridiculously opaque!”  She then proceeded to point to a swatch on her arm of the Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Jeffree.  She wasn’t kidding!  It was bright!  Then she added, “Oh, and that’s been on my arm for eight hours already, by the way.”

I was hooked and I had to have one.  According to Sephora’s website, “The liquid formula goes on wet for smooth, precise application and then dries to a matte, velvety finish. Once applied, there's no need to worry about smudging or migrating.”  They couldn’t be more right!  This product glides on totally effortlessly and the doe-foot applicator allows for precision application.  Give it about 30-45 seconds and the colors dries down to a seriously velvet-looking matte.  It is AMAZING.

I picked up a tube of Berlin which I LOVE.  Sephora describes it as a “warm rose” which I can definitely agree with.  My swatches make it look awfully red on the lip but it really isn’t – it’s definitely a warm pinky-rose.

Oh, and the product wears like a magnet.  The reason I hated lipstick for many years was because I felt like it disappeared after an hour.  However, this stuff is the real deal:  Check out this cell phone picture that I took after five hours of wear, 60 oz of drink, a sandwich, and a cup of yogurt.  Ummm…amazing!

I tried on Bow & Arrow, which was absolutely terrible on me.  The Sephora employee I was working with even asked, “Who can pull off that color?  I mean…what skin tone do you need to make that look right?”  (I should add that I’m super pale and she is very dark-complexioned so neither of those skin tones work, apparently!)

However, I do have my eye on Jeffree (“bright coral pink”), Backstage Bambi (“vivid hot pink”), and Outlaw (“brick red”).  I want them ALL.

Do you need this product?  YES.  Go buy one NOW.  Remember that matte lipsticks can be a little drying and this one is no exception so you may want to apply some balm beforehand.  Also, if you're not crazy about the matte look you can swipe some clear gloss over this.  However, that will compromise the wear time by quite a bit.
