This bright orange Maybelline blush will make your Spring!

Today I wanted to show you two Maybelline Color Goes Electric LE blushes:  Coral Burst and Golden Fuse.  An electric orange blush?  Count me curious!

These beautiful blushes cost about $7.50/each when I found them at Walgreens.  I haven't had any luck finding them in CVS yet.

The orange is glorious and can be built up to an amazing, deep flush.  The golden color is perfect for a some subtle warmth and shimmer.  I actually used mine as a bronzer but I know many people could pull this off as a highlighter.

Do you need these?  Yes!  Well, you must have the orange blush.  The quality is impeccable and saved me from the terrible lemming I've been having to buy a bright orange NARS blush like Exhibit A.

See if you can find them in your local stores - you won't regret it!

XOXO

I can't stop listening to these two songs!  OMG, it's just constant!

Audacious Asphalt provides a nice base for smoky eye looks

I've talked about Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadows before HERE and HERE.  I really love these because they can either serve as a base for powder shadows or you can use them on their own.

Today I want to show you Audacious Asphalt.  This is part of the permanent line so no worries about having to rush out to get it.

This color is a nice grey that I think is really better for layering other shades on top.  This one seems to be the least pigmented Color Tattoo that I've tried so it's a bit of a disappointment for using on its own.

I've used it before to build up smoky looks.  I feel like it's difficult to put this on lids because if you blend too much it'll smear around on eyes.

Like I said, this definitely benefits from having powder shadows on top.

You can find this in pretty much every grocery store and drugstore for about $6.99.  Find it on Ulta's site HERE.

What's in my purse?!

Today I just wasn't feeling the writing bug so I thought it would be really fun to film a "What's in my purse?" video!  You can find these all over YouTube and I think they're a lot of fun.  I always love seeing what people have in their purses.

Here are the products I mentioned that I've reviewed:

Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Captivating Coral
- MAC Fashion Nomad mattene
L'Oreal Colour Riche Le Gloss in The Queen's Shine
- tarte Maracuja Lip Gloss in Heath
L'Oreal Paris Infallible Le Gloss in Sparkle Frenzy

I hope you enjoyed my video!  Let me know what's always in your purse!

MLBB with Maybelline Coral Crush

Before I show you today's lipstick, I wanted to pass along something I found on Pinterest:

I've always adored Dita Von Teese because I think she is classy, wise, and mysterious.  The fact that she's beautiful is just the cherry on top!  I love this quote, too - I'm going to try to get this printed up and keep it on my vanity.

Moving on to Maybelline ColorSensational Lipcolor in 515 Coral Crush!

Maybelline has a ton of ColorSensational lipsticks to choose from and they tend to divide them up by reds/pinks, neutrals, plums, etc.  This cap is red, which I really dislike from a sorting standpoint.  It doesn't give you an accurate depiction of the color inside.  Plus, if you own three or four from the "reds/pinks" section, it might be hard to know what you're grabbing.  Minor nit-picky thing!

The color looks quite electric in the bullet but turns into a MLBB (my lips but better) once you apply.

This really does give you a nice coral color on your lips.  I bought it hoping it would lean more orange but it definitely leans more pink.

I will say that this is a little brighter on lips than it shows up in these pictures.  The formula is decent and glides on nicely but it does feel a bit dry on lips after a while.

If you like MLBB and coral colors, you would probably love this!

(Please forgive me for forgetting an arm swatch!  I got caught in a picture-taking frenzy of a bunch of lipsticks and completely forgot arm swatches.  Sorry!)

You can find this on Amazon HERE for $3.61 + $1.84 shipping.  You can also look at almost any drugstore!

Shocker: I'm disappointed with this orange lipgloss

Ok, in order to read this post, go read The Muse's post first!

You're back?  Good.  Ok, now look at the promo image again.  Whoa...those are some orange lips on the model!  You know I'm loving it.

So, of course I went out and bought Maybelline Color Sensational High Shine Gloss in Captivating Coral.

Doe-foot applicator = my favorite

So far, so good!
I had high, high expectations of tangerine lips with this...

 *whomp whomp*

How disappointed was I?!  Sure...this has some orange in it...but I wanted so much more orange!  Please go back and look at the promo image again and tell me that my lips look similar in color.  Yeah...you can't.

Sure, maybe they layer the gloss over a lipstick on the model but it's a little misleading to put it on the promo if that's not really the color you can expect to get.

And yes, I know that advertisers lie.  I know that advertisers mislead.  But this is really disappointing for someone obsessed with orange lips - I already have glosses like this.

That brings me to my next point:

Look at the small amount of product that actually resides in this packaging.  Sure, the tube seems big but it's actually pretty small.  This has 0.17 oz of product for $6.79.  Let's think about the fact that I spent $14 for FOUR 0.169 oz tubes of lipgloss from Sephora.  That's 0.676 oz for $14.  So, comparing apples to apples:  the Maybelline is $39.94 / 1 oz and the Sephora is $20.71 / 1 oz.  The Sephora is a much better value for what I consider to be a superior product.

Do you need this?  Nope.  Save your pennies for something more pigmented.

You can purchase HERE if you so desire.

Maybelline Color Tattoo heralds the beginning of Fall!

I know I've mentioned it before but it's really, really true:  Fall is my favorite season EVER!  I have had an eye on the new limited edition (LE) shades of Maybelline Color Tattoo Cream Gel Shadow since they first started circulating online.  Maybelline's Fall collection looks fabulous and these shades are no exception:

(Plus some candy corn for that real Fall feel!)

These shades are thoroughly Fall!  We've got Rich Mahogany, Mossy Green, Barely Beige, Gold Shimmer.

These are just so lovely and I knew I had to have them!  They are quite on par with the permanent Color Tattoo shades:  creamy, long-wearing, crease-resistant.

Rich Mahogany

Mossy Green

Barely Beige

Gold Shimmer

However, they have a couple of the same problems.  In the following swatches, only Gold Shimmer is one swipe.  The others are two swipes.  These take a few layers to really build up and just a little while to dry down.

L-R
Barely Beige, Mossy Green, Gold Shimmer, Rich Mahogany

I expected to love Mossy Green most but I actually adore Gold Shimmer the best!  These colors are just SO FALL and really reflect what I love about the cosmetics of the season!

These are currently BOGO 50% off at both CVS and Walgreens.  They're $6.99 each and I found mine at Walgreens.  If you're only hauling one - grab Gold Shimmer.

XOXO

Purple isn't possible with Maybelline Pop of Purple mascara

I've already told y'all just how much I love Maybelline Great Lash mascara.  So when I saw that Maybelline was coming out with four limited edition colors of Great Lash, I was thrilled!  I initially wanted to grab one of each color; however, I decided to just try one and see how it was before indulging in all of them.

Well, I'm glad I waited.  I grabbed Pop of Purple and I was a little disappointed in the results.  The color is a true purple and it almost looks like it has little bits of goldy-red shimmer in it.  Although you can see the color well on the wand and in the swatch, it just doesn't translate to eyelashes.  (The other available shades are Totally Teal, Blink of Blue and Go Go Green.)

They haven't sacrificed the formula - it still applies easily without clumps.  Unfortunately the  color just isn't there.  This might work on people with really light blond lashes, but it won't work on people with brown or black lashes.

I used Pop of Purple in an eye look.  This is one of my favorite looks for going out and I think it looks nice with my green eyes!  I used:

*UDPP over entire eye
*Wet n Wild Color Icon palette in Petal Pusher - Left eyelid color and right browbone color blended on lid
*Laura Mercier Violet Sky in crease and used wet as a liner
*Urban Decay Ecstasy on outer part of lid (Ecstasy is discontinued now but you can still find it for sale at a lot of places)
*Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Liner on upper waterline
*Maybelline Great Lash Pop of Purple on upper lashes

You can pick these up at almost any drugstore.  I got mine at Walgreens for $5.49.  I definitely don't regret picking it up because it will work just fine for everyday use.  I'm just disappointed that it isn't super dramatic.

What's your go-to look for going out?  Are you going to indulge in any of the LE mascaras?

XOXO

Maybelline has a great deal for Great Lash lovers!

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara is a cult favorite that people tend to adore or hate.  And let's be clear:  I LOVE IT.  I think Great Lash has amazing, inky-black coverage that lasts and lasts.  I'll say that it's better for length and definition than volume.  Unfortunately, it's hard to get both in a mascara.

Also, hasn't every single American girl owned a tube of this at one point in our lives?  Yes.

Anyway, Maybelline is having a MAJOR deal right now which I spotted at Wal-Mart.  Not only do you get Maybelline Great Lash Lots of Lashes, you also get Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Balm!  I have no idea if you can purchase it elsewhere but you might want to try.  I got mine for $5.79

(I'm sorry, but mascara ads are getting ridiculous.  If you had that many eyelashes, your eyelids would hurt.  Just saying.)

Let's break it down:  A tube of Baby Lips is $3.99 and a tube of Great Lash is $6.40.  That's $10.49 for both products and I got it for $5.79!  I might not have picked up the Baby Lips on its own but since I'm always needing a tube of Great Lash, it was a remarkable deal!  I may even go back and pick up a few more...
Maybelline Baby Lips Pink Punch

I've heard tons of raves for Baby Lips and the general consensus is that it's very moisturizing.  The pack I got had Baby Lips Pink Punch.  The other option looks too mauve and the other one looked completely color-less.

 Baby Lips Pink Punch
Baby Lips Pink Punch

Unfortunately, I wish I had picked a color-less one.  Pink Punch doesn't look right on me.  It's too "mod" and I dislike it.  The slippy balm texture would be nice to put on before bed to moisturize but I'm afraid it'll stain my pillowcases.  ~Sigh~  I may have to gift this one since I really consider that I got it for "free."

Of course I'm thrilled with Great Lash Very Black and I have to say that the Lots of Lashes brush is fabulous.  This is the same formula, just a different brush.  The shape is really good for lifting and separating - brilliant!

Yes, I think I'm going to need to go grab a few more.  This is a HG mascara and who doesn't want to stock up when they're on the cheap?!

You can buy Lots of Lashes HERE and Baby Lips HERE.

Do you love Great Lash?  Hate it?  Any experience with Baby Lips?  Do tell!

Purrrrfect cat-eyes with Maybelline gel eyeliner

Do you love a crisp, black cat-eye look?  Adele sure knows how to rock it and I'm always jealous of how great it looks on her.

In an attempt to recreate the iconic cat-eye look I turned to Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner in Blackest Black.

(Photo taken from Maybelline's website)

First of all, let me say that the eyeliner isn't nearly as goopy as it looks in that picture.  Sure, it's creamy and pigmented but...that promo picture looks gross.
That's better!  You can see that my jar has already been well-loved!
(Photo taken from Maybelline's website.)

This little glass pot comes with a plastic lid and a good quality brush.  I like that the pot is glass - it makes it feel more high-end.  I find the brush is really good at making thin flicks and thicker lines.

You have to know that I'm TERRIBLE at applying gel or liquid eyeliner but I have to say that this baby has helped.

Maybelline Eyestudio Lasting Drama Eyeliner in Blackest Black

When they say "Blackest Black" they really mean it!  Look how pigmented and nice that is!  Plus, you really only need one swipe for opaque coverage.  Just make sure to let it set for about 30 seconds before adding anything else like mascara.

I will say this has some flaking and fading after about five-six hours but it's great for a night out!

You can buy it HERE for $9.99.  There are four shades:  Blackest Black, Brown, Charcoal, and Eggplant.

XOXO
