Fiery orange nails with OPI Deutsch You Want Me Baby? (Plus a FOTD!)

As recently promised, I'm bringing you another polish from the Fall 2012 OPI Germany collection!  This is Deutsch You Want Me Baby? and I think it's the perfect Fall color.

Of course, not like it has to be Fall for me to wear a glowy orange on my tips!

This dries very true to bottle but it does show brush marks easily.  Mine has some pretty visible stripes so you need to keep your hand steady when painting this one on your nails.

This reminds me of a glowing fire or the leaves of a tree changing color.  I think this would look really nice with a silver glitter on top, or maybe even a red glitter.

You can see my brush stroke veering off to the right on my middle finger.  Ignore the sloppy job - I was just wanting to swatch this color but it's not my final destination for the night!

I have a review for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Want You To Want Me palette coming up later this week but I played around with some of the pieces and thought I'd share my FOTD today!

Liquid eyeliners will be the death of me - how do they work?!  I wish I could get the hang of them, but for now I'll take this rather shoddy cat eye look.

I layered Members Only and Graphic T's as my two shadows for a nice, matte look which would make the liquid liner pop.

I decided to do a dramatic lip because why not?  I thought about adding some gloss but I watched "Titanic" last night and was super-obsessed with Kate Winslet's matte lips throughout.  I update the look by using matte pink.

Here's what I used:
- Neutrogena Shine Control Primer
- Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in N117
- Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in Fair to Light (as an undereye concealer)
- tarte Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Finishing Powder
- tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush in Adventurous
- Lorac TANtalizer Baked Bronzer
Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler
- Urban Decay Primer Potion
- Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadows in Members Only and Graphic T's
- Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid eyeliner in Jet
L'Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara (not pictured)
- Anastasia Beverly Hills clear brow gel
- Kat Von D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick in Berlin

XOXO

10 things I would repurchase immediately

If you've ever gotten into watching beauty Youtubers, you'll know that they're a lot like beauty bloggers, except they exclusively produce videos.  I'd say that's how I first got into the world of beauty as a hobby - I watched instructional videos about beauty techniques!

I have a lot of respect for beauty Youtubers because they do a lot of creative things with their channels.  One thing you'll se pretty often is "tag" videos, where a person comes up with an idea for a video and then tags people so they'll make a similar video.  (These often take the form of a list of some sort.)

One type of tag video that has floated around is the "10 Things I'd Repurchase."  The idea is simple:  if you were to lose ALL of your makeup collection tomorrow, what would be the first ten things you'd repurchase?

When you have a pretty large collection, this can be a tough question!  (I got mine down to eleven and finally gave up and took out my Sephora crease blending brush.)

Anyway, here are my ten products I would have to IMMEDIATELY repurchase!  (Click on the listed price to purchase.  If the product name is linked, it means I've written about it before and you can click to read.)

1.)  Milk of Magnesia - $9.39 - I've already explained how much I love this product.  I need this as my primer in the morning!

2.)  Skin 79 Super Beblish Balm Pink Label - $13.79 - This is my Holy Grail BB balm (and foundation).  It applies like a dream, stays all day, and doesn't break me out.  It's seriously perfect.  I'm planning an in-depth review, so look for that soon.

3.)  Urban Decay Primer Potion - $9 - This is the sample bottle I received with my #4 item!  Lol.  UDPP is a HG product for many, many people.  It goes on creamy and makes your eyeshadow stay in place all day long!

4.)  Urban Decay Naked palette - $50 - OMGGGG.  Do you have this yet?  If you don't, step away from your computer and drive to the nearest Ulta or Sephora and buy it.  No really, go.  I'll wait.  Ok, you're back?  Good.  Seriously - it is amazing.  This is the ONLY palette you need if you want nice, neutral looks or smokey dramatic eyes.  You can't go wrong with nudes and neutrals.

5.)  Benefit Coralista Boxed Blush - $28 - This blush is so lovely.  Trust me - it was a toss up between this one and NARS Orgasm blush.  However, I picked this one since it has an included brush and if I lost everything in my stash I would need a brush!

6.)  Too Faced Caribbean in a Compact Snow Bunny Bronzer - $29 - This is the best bronzer I've ever come across.  It has four stripes of color which keeps it from being too orangey.  This is my HG bronzer and I couldn't be happier with it.  I would have to replace it!

7.)  Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil in Strawburn - $22 - I've talked about this baby before.  I need it, have to have it, can't live without it anymore.

8.)  Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner in Demolition - $19 - Wow, 30% of the products on this list are UD!  They really are my favorite brand EVER!  This color smudges easily and stays all day long.  I really love how easy it is to apply without tugging or dragging.

9.)  Fairy Drops Scandal Queen mascara - $24 - This is one of my biggest indulgences.  It's just too amazing and makes my eyelashes look a million miles long.  Review forthcoming, I promise!

10.)  Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler - $19 - I had used a cheap, terrible eyelash curler for six years (SIX YEARS, Y'ALL!) before I purchased this one.  I knew I deserved it, after using crap for so long.  Beauty bloggers all over the internet sing the praises of this baby and for good reason.  It's so good that it's unreal.  You can create incredibly dramatic curls with it.

So there you have it!  These are the 10 products that I'd have to replace right away if I lost them!

What are your top ten?  Let me know!  Do we have any in common?  Would you choose more face products or more eye products?

XOXO

Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil is a perfect fit!

Unfortunately, beauty isn't all sparkly eyeshadows and dramatic lipsticks.  Sometimes, it's about perfecting or enhancing our natural selves in a way that SHOULD be unnoticeable.

One of those areas is eyebrows.  Eyebrows don't usually get noticed unless they're really messed up.  Too bushy or too sparse can look just WRONG.  Of course, we should note that my favorite celebrity eyebrows belong to Stephen Colbert!  *swoon*
(Photo taken from The Colbert Report's official Facebook page)

That's why brow powders and brow pencils should be an integral part of any beauty maven's arsenal.  I recently snapped up the Anastasia Beverly Hills Perfect Brow Pencil that was mentioned in THIS post.

I chose Strawburn to match my newly-acquired red hair.  The pencil is 0.1 oz for $22 and I imagine this is going to last me a full year.  You don't use much brow pencil each day so you get a lot of bang for your buck.

Sure, you could grab a cheaper eyeliner and use that, but unfortunately my color is difficult to match.  Trust me, I scoured the Internet looking for dupes and there just weren't any for Strawburn.

This pencil blends easily and looks very natural on me.  I have sparse brows due to over-plucking (sorry, beauty gods!) and this helps fill in the patchy places.  Don't go too heavy right at first - the trick is to build and make it look natural.

I use the spoolie on the end of the pencil to brush brows up.  Then, I drag the spoolie in the direction of the hair growth to brush the eyebrow hair down.  Then, I fill in my brows with the pencil starting at the top part of the arch in your brow.  Don't start at the very center - it can cause you to look REALLY off-balance.  If you have unruly brows, you can set them with gel.  My brows are pretty tame, so I can do without that step.

Do you need this?  It depends.  If you have a hard-to-match hair you might want to see if Anastasia has a match for you.  Plus, none of these pencils are too terribly dark, which helps prevent you from going overboard.  You may get away with a cheap-o drugstore pencil but it might look unnatural.  Plus, although $22 might seem steep, you'll be using this forever!

You can purchase HERE or in Sephora stores.

XOXO

Did I just find a new HG product?!

Every makeup lover is on an eternal quest:  to find a Holy Grail product.*  The perfect foundation.  The perfect polish.  The perfect mascara.  The perfect orange lipstick.

Today I decided to drop by my local Sephora for a makeover.  Since I used henna to dye my hair red I've felt that my makeup doesn't quite match.  (More on henna in a later post.)  So, I happened to stumble upon the 1 year anniversary party of my Sephora!  There were professionals from Urban Decay (muh favesies!), Laura Mercier, Bumble and Bumble, Clarisonic, etc.

I got partnered up with Charlie from Laura Mercier and she was super sweet and quiet.  She did a lovely, subdued purple eye on me.  So professional looking!  All products used were Laura Mercier but I didn't get names for them all.  (The brow pencil was Anastasia Beverly Hills.)

I ended up buying the product that she used in the outer V of my eye:  Baked Eye Colour - Wet/Dry in Violet Sky ($22 for 0.06 oz).  I think it's truly lovely as a wash and spectacular when used wet.

But back to the Holy Grail.  As I was navigating through the crowd I came upon selection of Charlotte Ronson products that I had never even noticed before.  There, in a small corner were four Starry Eyes Liquid Eyeshadows ($18 for 0.25 fl oz).  At first I thought, "GAK!  Look at this old, nasty, separated stuff!"

EWW!

Upon closer inspection, I realized that there were pigments suspended in some sort of water combination.  I shook it up and pulled out the doe-footed applicator…and then MAGIC happened.

HOLY WOW!!!!

Now listen, I try not to be hyperbolic when it comes to certain things, including makeup.  But this is a miracle.  A beautiful golden-olive color?  With some kind of moss color creeping in?!  It's like someone melted down a dragon and put it in liquid form.

I am absolutely not exaggerating when I say that my jaw dropped and I started bouncing up and down.  I even started looking all around me thinking, "Where is someone that I can share this magic with?!"

For some reason I was chuckling about "Shake Vigorously."

I swatched the rest of the colors and they were all equally beautiful but I just couldn't drop the money on them without having tested them for wear.  So, I'm going to test out Shiri and make sure that the wear is good.  (I'll report back, I swear!)

I had no idea who Charlotte Ronson is but apparently she is related to Lindsay Lohan's ex, Samantha Ronson.  Whatever.  I don't care who she is or what she does as long as she keeps making this incredibly beautiful and innovative makeup.

I also nabbed samples of two foundations:  MUF #117 HD Foundation ($42 for 1.01 fl oz) and Laura Mercier Creme Silk in Cream Ivory ($42 for 1.18 fl oz).  (Side note:  I got a compliment from a stranger on my "beautiful skin" after I left my makeover wearing the Laura Mercier Creme Silk.  She asked what I did to make it so lovely!)

L - MUF #117; R - Laura Mercier Creme Silk in Cream Ivory

I used 100 of my Beauty Insider points to pick up a 0.34 fl oz sample of Clinique Pore Refining Solutions Correcting Serum.  (I'll let y'all know how it works out!)

All in all, this was a success and I have a feeling that Shiri is about to become an HG product!

XOXO

*(The beauty is that there really isn't such a thing as an HG product…we always keep moving on to bigger and better!  But shhh, don't spoil the fun!)
