Cover your blemishes with Essence Coverstick

Today I have another Essence product to show you!  This is the new Coverstick in 01 Matt Sand.

This product promise a matte finish that "calms the skin."

This comes in a tube like a lipstick.  I like the design because it lends itself to easy spot application.

The plastic tube is thin and feels a bit cheap but...it is cheap, so that isn't anything truly terrible, IMHO.

This product is not super creamy and does tug a bit when applying it to the undereye area.  I feel like this product is better formulated to concealing acnes, pox marks, dark spots, etc. and not concealing dark circles.

I have oily skin under my eyes and this is still quite drying.  If you have dry skin under your eyes, steer clear and save this for covering blemishes.

I will say that this lasts all day and does a fantastic job of covering up my acne scars.  Plus, it's super cheap so having a tube in your stash wouldn't be a bad idea!

This is $2.49 and you can pick it up in Ulta stores or online HERE.  It comes in three different shades.

XOXO

Ulta Extreme Wear Cream Eyeshadow is extreme in all the wrong ways

Do you ever hope a product will work perfectly just because it seems so perfect?  Yeah, I think all beauty lovers have been there.

I had high hopes for Ulta Extreme Wear Cream Eyeshadow.  These are normally $8 but appear to be on sale for $4.  (I got mine a while back when it was on sale for $4.)  You can purchase in Ulta stores or HERE.

I snapped up 100 Rising Star, which is a shimmery champagne shade.  There are ten color choices.

These have a great doe-foot applicator (my favorite kind).  Because of the applicator, I find it odd that Ulta claims, "the sponge applicator makes it easy to shade the entire lid as a shadow or create a fine line as a liner."  Ummm...a liner?  Yes, it's easy to cover the entire lid but definitely don't see this being small enough to use as a liner.

But no worries - you won't be able to use this as a liner anyway because the pigmentation is awful.

This is waaaayyy too patchy and creases up in all the wrong places.  It takes forever to dry down - so long in fact, that I think it's time-prohibitive to wear it.  (We're talking 4-5 minutes here.)  Plus, the shimmer is out of control on this one - not a good look on the eyes.

All in all, this one is a dud.  Save your $4 (or $8) to put toward something better.  There are much better products on the market!

Essence Stay With Me doesn't pop

Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipgloss

I'm all for cheap thrills when it comes to makeup (and OK, maybe life, too!).  So I couldn't resist picking up two Essence Stay With Me Longlasting Lipglosses at $2.29.  I nabbed a "true red" with 07 Kiss Kiss Kiss and what I call a "Barbie pink" with 04 Trendsetter.  I was a little intimidated to be honest but figured they were worth a shot.  (I picked up a third deep berry color but it is MIA.  I'll swatch it when I find it!)

Let's start by looking at the amazing applicator.  It's round at the base and tip and narrow in the middle.  It works well for people like me who have a fairly large lower lip and small top lip.  You can use the side of the applicator to cover your entire bottom lip easily and use the tip to cover your top lip!  Anyway, I adore the applicator.

And the consistency?  Perfect!  They're not too thin and runny but not too thick and goopy either.  These are my idea of perfect.

Don't those swatches look yummy?  They look just juicy!  But unfortunately…

The beautiful swatches just don't carry over to my lips.  They seem to get lost and don't impart much color.  Trendsetter does a better job than Kiss Kiss Kiss, as you can see.

So would I pick them up?  If you're feeling the urge to indulge and don't want to blow the bank I'd go for it.  They are worth it for the brilliant applicator and wonderful consistency.
